Gout is an arthritic disease caused by a chemical in the blood called uric acid. The uric acid crystals accumulate in the joint causing severe inflammation and pain. It often presents in the foot in men and post-menopausal women. Local and medical strategies are used.

 

Arthritis is a broad term that includes osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and several inflammatory diseases. Treatments may include physical therapy and corrective foot devices.
